July 2012: By the Kids

We’ve had a fun and family filled summer so far! I’ll let the kids tell about it from their point of view…

Auriana is at the Quickwater Ranch in Victor Idaho for a two-week girls camp. She wrote us a letter, so I’ll include a little bit of what she wrote. Her allergies have been bad up there, so she probably wrote this while sneezing and sniffling. “Quickwater is super fun! We have morning, afternoon, and evening chores. So far, our group has taken care of the animals, moved irrigation pipes, and cooked/cleaned up meals. We eat really yummy food, and it takes forever to make dinner for all the people. We went to church in Victor on Sunday, but we had the same lessons that we had in our ward a couple weeks ago. On Monday we had a sunrise hike, where we hiked up a trail really early in the morning and ate breakfast up there. We also started our activities. On Monday morning I went into town and helped weed a lady’s field. Her husband is in Afghanistan and she has three kids. She was really nice. After lunch on Monday, I had photography, and I learned how to focus my camera so I can take really neat pictures, mostly of flowers. During all of our free time I go down to the horses and pet them. This morning (Tuesday) I had music/poetry, where we worked on our group skit and made tiles with our names carved into them. I have photography again later, and tomorrow I get to ride the horses. Friday and Saturday, I get to go rock climbing. We stay in these tent/cabin things, and we sleep on cots. I’m so glad that I came!

Isaac:
Last week I went to Rexburg to visit two of my cousins from the Pendleton side who are twins, they live in a very small neighborhood in Hibbard were every body has giant yards so there was endless activities we could do. We caught fish with our hands in a tiny canal by their house, they were as long as my arm. We kept them in a little pool overnight and they died. Nobody knew how they got in that little canal! We got tons of fireworks for the fourth of July and we had a blast, literally.

Natalie:
We did the Youth Arts Festival June 11 – 22 and it was really fun! I did an art class called Art Connection and a quilting class. On June 1, I went to Mark and Jana’s house and slept over until Tuesday. It was a ton of fun! Next our ward has girl’s camp, I am super excited because it is my first year!! On the fourth of July Jenny and Chad were at our house. We went to the parade in Provo then went to Brenda’s house to go swimming and watch How to Train Your Dragon. After that we went to this restaurant called CafĂ© Peisan. At 8:00 we went to a BYU men’s soccer game. After the game was over they turned off all the lights and we watched the fireworks from the stadium of fire!

Enoch:
I went to my cousin’s on the Pendleton side and we caught a snake and some frogs. We went fishing, but we didn’t catch any fish. When we got home we went to this swimming place that’s called Surf n’ Swim. After half an hour these big waves come on. There is this other small swimming pool with a diving board. When we got home we built a big fort and played with their dog Buddy. Collin and Grant came over and I built a lot of Domino chains with Collin and we slept in a tent in the basement. While they were here there was a big fire in American Fork and then it rained really hard. We did a rain dance and it rained even harder.

Miriam:
On July 1, my Pendleton cousins my age came and slept over at my house. They stayed from Sunday night to Tuesday afternoon. We went to the reservoir, we went to the water park, we played in the sprinklers, and we went on a homemade waterslide. We had a lot of fun for three days. On the 4th of July we went to a parade, then we went swimming at the pool by Brenda’s house, then we went to a BYU soccer game and watched fireworks and the game. It was a lot of fun. I wish my cousins could’ve stayed over for the 4th of July, but at least Jenny and Chad and their kids and Steve and Barbie and their kids got to come over. So, I still got to have cousins over. But, we didn’t get to buy fireworks, but it was still fun. I like swimming from one end of the swimming pool to the other through the middle. Tomorrow swimming lessons start! THE END!

Ellie:
Yesterday I went to my friend Anna’s birthday party and it was really fun cause we got candy and popcorn and drinks and pizza and we played a popcorn toss game. We went to the Library before that and we got some books and we got two Arthur movies. We went to a parade on the 4th of July and we brought flags and we saw Jessica and she was in it. Jenny and Chad were there with us too and Brenda. Then we went to the pool by Brenda’s house and it was a lot of fun. After that we went to the BYU soccer game and we watched fireworks after and I fell asleep when we were there. Then when we got home I was sleeping by KK and I didn’t know. It was really funny! The End!
