November 2008: by BJORN
We just finished having a fun giggle party while having graham crackers and milk before going to bed. We actually made it through without any milk spurting from mouths or noses. Becky was reading all the best quotes from the funny book – things the kids have said growing up that are pretty hilarious or at least cute. The kids laugh their heads off every time we read all the funny things each of them has said. That book is definitely a family treasure. I’m glad Becky had the wisdom to start it with Auriana and the commitment to continue it on as each of the kids have come into the family and added their share of memorable moments.
We had a great testimony meeting today. I’m sure glad church is weekly. If I didn’t have that recharge each week life would sure be a lot tougher. The kids are getting ready for the Primary program next week. Becky has her hands full with the Sunbeam class and two boys in particular that are very high energy. Since Auriana is no longer in Primary, she’ll get to sit in the audience with me and watch for the first time. In the last month I’ve really become much more grateful for the Young Women program as I see the added maturity and understanding and commitment in Auriana just in the few short weeks since she turned 12.
We have one more birthday this week and then we’ll be done with our every-two-weeks birthday marathon that started with Auriana and ends with Ellie (on the 5th). She is very excited for her birthday. We had a celebration yesterday with my family and she was so excited that it was finally her turn to blow out the candles. She can’t wait until her party. She even invited the neighbor’s dog to her party.
I can’t believe the election is in two days. That was a long process. I’ve never been as into the whole process as I was this time. A member in our ward reminded us today that no matter what the outcome is we can be sure that the Lord is in charge of what really matters and will guide events to the outcome that is best for us and is in keeping with his plan. Its really just up to us to do our best, stand up for what we know is right, follow the prophet, and maintain an eternal perspective.
Well, the only other thing I can think of is that we remodeled our upstairs bathroom – got a new cabinet piece on a trade for some work I did for a cabinet builder in our ward. And of course that led to new floor, new paint job, new fixtures, and now we’re poor but have a really cool looking bathroom that doesn’t match the rest of our house.

SEPTEMBER 2008: by the KIDS
We’re doing great – keeping busy as usual! We let the kids write the letter this month!
Ellie-
I spinned (in dance class). I was gonna have a “popsicole”. I have a birthday tomorrow (she means next month). I have Brenda at my house.
Miriam-
I was playing with Collin and Grant and KayKay and Bennet, even Jenny and Chad – you know those friends that used to live in Georgia and now they moved into that different place – I played with all of them, even the grownups. In preschool – we did letters there. We had recess and had a snack when it was time to go. We bring papers home. And, we go hunting (“goin on a bear hunt”).
Enoch –
Refused to dictate anything – but he’s having a great time in school. His birthday was fun! Bjorn made an awesome Indiana Jones obstacle course, complete with a golden statue, rolling boulder, water grenades, snake pit, swamp, spiders, and much more. The treasure at the end came falling down when Enoch cut the rope. He said it was way better than he imagined it would be!
Natalie-
I played soccer this year and my team either won or tied every game. But I did not make one single goal the whole soccer season (but Mom adds, she kept the other team from scoring countless goals ☺). I’m learning how to type in school too. School is really fun also! In school I am learning multiplication!
Isaac-
My first football game of the year we lost in triple overtime (0-6). Then we played the team again and we beat them in double overtime. We have two more games left to see who wins for 3rd and 4th place. We played in the rain and it was hard to pull any flags and I pulled the flag that kept them from winning the game, and someone on our team brought dougnuts and I got to pick the biggest doughnut, because my coach said I needed something special! I bought two cap guns and Enoch and I have been having cap gun wars.
Auriana-
Seventh grade is sort of hard, the good thing is that I have a lot of fun classes! At our school, we have A-day and B-day so I have different classes on the different days. For my math class, I am in Algebra 1 with a bunch of eighth graders. There are only about 5 seventh graders in the whole class, and that’s counting me! I’m taking choir and we had a concert about a week ago. I’m also taking orchestra and I had a concert for that a few days ago. Jenny, Collin, Grant, Katelyn, and Bennet even came to the concert with my family! We had a lot of fun while Jenny and Chad were here, we even went on a hike to a waterfall! It was fun, but when we got back to our cars, we were all freezing cold!
